Wedding photography frequently asked questions

How do we book you?+

Send your wedding date, venue and an outline of your plans by email. I will confirm availability and answer any questions there. Choose your coverage and a one-photographer or two-photographer package on the Pricing page. A £200 booking payment, counted towards the package total, then secures the date.

Is the £200 booking payment refundable?+

No. The £200 booking payment is non-refundable because it reserves your date and I turn away other enquiries for it. This does not affect any refund or cancellation right that the law gives you. If I cancel and we cannot agree a suitable replacement photographer or new date, all payments will be refunded.

What are the cancellation and rescheduling terms?+

Please cancel or request a date change in writing. A rescheduling request made within 14 days of booking is free of charge. After those 14 days, each date change carries a £60 administration fee. All changes are subject to availability; if I am unavailable for the requested replacement date and we cannot agree another date, the booking is treated as a cancellation and the booking payment remains non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.

What happens in extreme weather, illness or circumstances outside anyone's control?+

Rain or difficult weather does not usually stop coverage; I will adapt the plan with you and the venue. If official warnings, unsafe travel, venue closure, serious illness or another event outside reasonable control makes the agreed coverage impossible, we will first try to move the booking or adjust the coverage. If I am ill, I will try to arrange a suitable professional replacement with your agreement and at no extra charge. If no reasonable alternative can be agreed, any refund will reflect services already supplied and unavoidable costs permitted by law.

Do we need a meeting before booking?+

No preliminary meeting is needed. To keep the process clear and efficient, availability and all pre-booking questions are handled by email rather than through an introductory meeting. Once your date is secured and the timeline develops, I will confirm the practical details needed for the day.

What is your approach on the day?+

I work quietly and document what unfolds, stepping in with gentle guidance only when it is useful. Nothing stiff, forced or over-directed.

Which coverage lengths and prices can we choose?+

For one photographer, Short Coverage is 2 hours for £480, Half Day is 4–5 hours for £780, and Full Day is 8–9 hours for £1,180. For two photographers working on photography and film together, the same coverage lengths cost £780, £1,280 and £1,780 respectively. Each package has its own retouching and film allowance; see the side-by-side package comparison.

What does the one-photographer package include?+

Every package includes professional colour grading of the usable photographs. With 2-hour Short Coverage, choose either 12 retouched photographs or a 30-second wedding teaser film. The 4–5-hour Half Day package includes both 12 retouched photographs and a 1-minute teaser film. The 8–9-hour Full Day package includes 30 retouched photographs and a 2-minute teaser film.

Is colour grading the same as advanced retouching?+

Colour grading gives the delivered photographs a consistent overall tone and finish. Advanced retouching is additional, more detailed work on selected photographs. Short and half-day packages include 12 advanced retouches and full-day packages include 30, except for one-photographer Short Coverage, where you choose 12 retouches or the teaser film. Extra advanced retouches cost £3 per photograph.

When will we receive our photographs and films?+

The remaining balance is paid after the shoot. Initial image selection and professional colour grading begin once that payment has been received. Finished photographs are normally delivered within three weeks and films within six weeks of payment. Express delivery of the finished photographs within two days is available for £150, subject to availability.

How many photographs will we receive?+

As a guide, 2 hours of coverage usually produces 120–200 photographs, 4–5 hours 250–400, and 8–9 hours 450–700. These are estimates because every wedding is different; duplicate frames, test shots, missed focus and closed-eye images are removed. The retouching allowance is part of the delivered collection, rather than a limit on the total number of colour-graded photographs.

How are the photographs delivered, and how long can we download them?+

Photographs are delivered through a Google Drive download link. The link remains available for one month from delivery, so please download the complete collection and make your own backup during that period. The download link is a delivery service, rather than permanent storage.

Can we request a particular editing style?+

Yes. Please share your preferred style and any reference images before the wedding. This might be cinematic, light and airy, vintage film, fresh Japanese-inspired tones, vibrant colour or an atmospheric finish. If you have no specific preference, I will choose an approach suited to the setting, light and mood of the day.

How do travel, accommodation, overtime and VAT work?+

Travel within Manchester is included. For other locations, reasonable return travel, parking and toll costs are quoted and agreed before booking. Accommodation is added only when distance or the event schedule makes same-day travel unreasonable, and the proposed cost is agreed with you first. Coverage beyond the booked time is subject to availability and your approval: £180 per hour for one-photographer coverage or £280 per hour for two-photographer coverage, charged in 30-minute blocks. I am not VAT-registered, so VAT is not charged.

Do you provide RAW files, and what can we do with the finished work?+

By default, you receive the usable photographs as professionally colour-graded, high-resolution JPG (JPEG) files, together with the advanced retouches included in your package. Original RAW files, unselected frames and unfinished edits are not included in standard delivery. I retain copyright in the photographs and films, while you receive a permanent, worldwide licence to download, print and share the finished work for personal use, including on personal social media. Platform cropping is fine, but please do not sell, commercially license, apply filters to or materially alter the work. Venues and suppliers should contact me before using it for their own marketing.

Do you photograph group portraits?+

Absolutely. We plan a concise list in advance so the important combinations are covered without taking you away from the celebration for too long.

What films are included with two-photographer coverage?+

Two photographers work together to capture photographs and film. The 2-hour package includes 12 retouched photographs and a 2-minute highlight film. The 4–5-hour package includes 12 retouched photographs, a 2-minute highlight film and a 4-minute documentary film. The 8–9-hour package includes 30 retouched photographs, a 4-minute highlight film and an 8-minute documentary film. Film lengths may vary slightly to suit the story and licensed music.

Can we add retouched photographs or a longer film?+

Yes. Additional advanced retouching costs £3 per photograph, and additional edited film costs £50 per extra minute. The per-minute charge refers to the length of the finished film, rather than extra time shooting on the day. Tell me what you would like so we can agree the extra work and cost before editing.

Can we also ask about wedding-day hair and makeup?+

Yes. Please mention this in your enquiry. Wedding-day hair and makeup services are quoted separately and are not included in the photography or film package prices.

Will you use our photographs or film for promotion?+

Yes. Selected photographs and films may be used by default in my portfolio, on my website and social media, and in promotional materials. Please tell me before booking if you have any privacy requirements so we can agree them in writing.

Is the music in a publicly shared film commercially licensed?+

Yes. Music is selected from a professional library and licensed for the intended wedding-film delivery and online use. If I publish a film to promote my photography, the music licence must also cover that promotional use. Selected photographs and films may be used for promotion by default, subject to any privacy arrangements we have agreed in writing. I am happy to consider a song request, but a Spotify or Apple Music subscription does not provide film rights. A specific commercial song can be used only if the necessary licence is available and any additional licensing cost and delay are agreed with you in advance.

When do we pay?+

A £200 booking payment secures your date and is counted towards the package total. The remaining balance is paid after the shoot. Image selection and professional colour grading begin once the balance has been received, followed by delivery of your download link.
